Meet Taryn, a seasoned professional at the Centre, where she serves as the supervisor for Yorkville University Master of Counselling Practicum students. With over 20 years of experience as a Registered Psychologist in Alberta, Taryn has dedicated her career to supporting the personal growth and transformation of teens and adults.
Taryn's educational journey began in 2008 when she earned her Masters of Science in Couples and Family Therapy. Driven by a passion for continuous learning, she returned to university in 2015 to complete a postgraduate certificate in Health Psychology, further expanding her expertise in the field. As a result of her dedication and hard work, Taryn received her practice permit as a Registered Psychologist in Alberta in 2019.
Believing in the power of a holistic approach to health and healing, Taryn centres her therapeutic process on understanding the whole person. She applies a humanistic, trauma-informed lens to her practice, fostering a compassionate and empathetic environment for her clients.
Taryn's commitment to professional growth is evident in her pursuit of specialized training. She has honed her skills in various therapeutic modalities, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Solution-Focused Therapy.

Amber Skoczek is a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist with over thirteen years of experience in mental health and child and youth care. Based at the Centre for Mental Health and Addictions, Amber significantly contributes as a Clinical Supervisor. Her primary responsibility includes overseeing the Friday collaborative meetings, which are essential for the interns to discuss client cases confidentially, sharing experiences to enhance learning while ensuring client anonymity. This setting not only fosters mutual learning but also doubles as a weekly staff meeting where Amber occasionally conducts short seminars.
Amber's professional journey also includes roles as a Psychotherapist at the Canadian Psychologists Network and Rooted Ambition Therapeutic Services. Specializing in trauma-informed care, she employs techniques like EMDR, IFS, and mindfulness. Amber's commitment to psychoeducation allows her to empower clients with effective coping strategies tailored to their developmental needs.
She holds a Master of Social Work with a Clinical Specialization in Trauma-Informed Care from the University of Calgary, and additional credentials in Psychedelic Assisted Therapy, EMDR Basic Training, and EMDR with Children and Adolescents.

Rene Ramirez is a registered provisional psychologist with a rich academic background and diverse linguistic abilities. He earned a Master's degree in Psychosocial Intervention and a Master's in Sex Therapy and Relationship Therapy, both from the University of Barcelona. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from St. Mary’s University. Rene is fluent in English, Spanish, and French, enhancing his ability to connect with and assist clients from various cultural backgrounds.
His therapeutic approach is both systemic and narrative, focusing on helping individuals reach their potential through tailor-made sessions that cater to their unique needs. Deepak Minhas holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, a Bachelor of Sciences from the University of Alberta, and a Legal Assistant Diploma from CDI College. She is also a published author, having written No Straight Lines and One Day at a Time, which explore themes of mental health within the South Asian community through poetry, prose, and short stories. Her literary work delves into complex issues such as homophobia, gender identity, and postpartum depression, both in Canada and India. Through her deep exploration of character narratives, Deepak developed a profound appreciation for personal stories, leading her to pursue a career in counselling.
